Thank you so much for sharing in our excitement after announcing on Mother’s Day that we are expecting baby boy number 2! Our due date is just before Thanksgiving, and we can’t wait to have him here before the holidays!
As many of you know, we hoped and prayed for a baby for a year and half before I became pregnant with Whit in 2023! It was such a refining time for us, and I am always thinking of those who are in that season of waiting. You are always on my heart, especially over Mother’s Day weekend! You can read more about that journey here.
We knew we wanted to try for a 2ish year age gap, but I was definitely worried that we would go through another heart-wrenching period of waiting again. I prayed and prayed that wouldn’t be the case! To our great joy and surprise, it was quite the opposite this time! It is still such a miracle to me that I have not stopped thanking God for. It has taken me until now to let this blessing truly sink in, and I will always look at this little boy as an example of God’s perfect timing! If you’re looking for any resources, I really enjoyed reading Real Food for Fertility this time around!
Rudd and I both come from families of 3 siblings, and all of us are fairly close in age, so I think that was the biggest influence as far as when we felt “ready” for another baby – siblings close in age has just always been something we knew we wanted! With that said, the hardest part for me, was and is, not feeling completely back to my pre-baby self before getting pregnant again – this of course is a mostly unattainable wish! But I can relate if you feel the same way!
We found out on March 14th, the day before my 29th birthday, and ended up telling my whole family the next day when we were all together celebrating! I quickly made a little button that said “big brother” and pinned it to Whit’s outfit to share the news! There was also no fanfare with telling Rudd this time – I was so shocked that I just ran in the kitchen to show him the test 🤣
I’m now officially 12 weeks and the baby is the size of a lime! I’m glad to be leaving the first trimester in the dust pretty soon and will hopefully be getting some of my energy back! I was newly pregnant when we went on our trip to DC recently and I thought I might not make it a few times with all of the walking – ha! My worst symptom this time has just been the exhaustion which probably comes from chasing a toddler around all day, too! My biggest tip for nausea is to try to eat a little something every 2-3 hours so your stomach is never empty – easier said than done. Weeks 6-10 I would eat a bowl of greek yogurt/granola/berries at 9pm every night because I would start to feel so sick several hours after eating dinner! Thankfully I am getting past that, but feel for you if you are in the thick of it!!
We don’t have a name picked out yet – we really used our one boy name for Whit, which is Rudd’s name since he’s a junior! We’ve only known for 2 weeks that this baby is a boy, so we have some brainstorming to do. I’m starting by having my grandmother write down all of the boy names in our family’s history that she can think of!
Primarily, we are just SO overwhelmed with gratitude and joy to welcome this baby boy into our family! It is beyond my wildest dreams and beyond my most earnest prayers that I get to be a mother to two little boys. I can already see the coordinating outfits and shared birthday parties in our future!
Thank you for coming along this journey with me! I can’t wait to relive all of my tried and true baby favorites with you, and share the new things I’ll be trying this time around!
